Pharmacology is the way in which the body reacts to the taking of a drug. Pharmacological studies are conducted in order to determine how it is that the body reacts once the chemicals of the drug enters the body. Pharmacology goes on to look at how it is that a person functions once the drug has entered their system. Pharmacology is not limited to the study of the drug once it enters a person’s body. Pharmacological studies are centered around the chemical as well as the property makeup of the drug itself. The pharmacological experiments are designed to study the root and source of the drug. More in depth pharmacological experiments aim their focus at how it is that a drug works in relations to certain types that consume the drug in question. A pharmacological study is usually conducted within an educational environment. This is because a pharmacological study involves being able to properly analyze, along with a group of other pharmacology specialists, the effects that a drug has.
There are several divisions within the field of pharmacology. The first is called clinical pharmacology. Clinical pharmacology is the study in which the relation between a drug and the effect that is had on the human body is measured. Another area of pharmacological study is called pschopharmacology. It is the study between a drug and the effect that is has on the nervous system. Toxicology is the field of pharmacology that measures the potential harmful effects that a drug can have on a body. Another pharmacological concentration that is of high importance to the pharmacological field is called posology. This is the pharmacological division that formulates the dosage that are standard for each drug. A highly practiced area of pharmacological study is called pharmacognosy, and it is the realm of pharmacology that studies the way in which medicine is created through plants, and the effects that it has on the human body. Another division of pharmacological study that is practiced is called behavioral pharmacology. Behavioral pharmacology usually starts off with research that is conducted with animals. It is typically the preliminary test method that is initiated before a drug is released in order to decipher side effects.
